Medusa was said to be a beautiful mortal, the only mortal in her family. It was said she had an affair with the sea god Poseidon, as a result Athena punished her, turning Medusa into a hideous hag, making her hair into writhing snakes and her skin was turned a greenish hue, and anyone who locked gaze with Medusa was turned into stone.
This modern statue depicts Medusa with python hair that wraps around her, keeping guard at all angles. She is made of silver obsidian, providing a shimmer that brings her to life. Like Medusa’s serpents obsidian is a very protective stone, it shields against negativity and stimulates personal growth.
